On Tuesday, January 6 at 9:00 a.m. ET, the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center, was joined by the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, will host a discussion on the implications of the US capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro and the military operation that struck key targets in Caracas on Saturday.
Venezuela may finally be on the cusp of a democratic transition. President Donald Trump’s statement that the United States will “run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper, and judicious transition” reflects a longer-term commitment to Venezuela but also raises questions about the country’s future.
